CSUSM to Host Second Annual Lowrider Experience on Sept. 22

The Cal State San Marcos Latino Association of Faculty & Staff and University Police Department are co-hosting the second annual Lowrider Experience at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22 on campus.

The event will showcase lowriders as an art form and will include live music, free raffle giveaways, a beer garden and children’s activities.

The event is free and open to the public.

The goal of the event is to unite the CSUSM community and the surrounding community in an annual gathering to celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month.

“We’re bringing the community together with lowriders as the focal point of the event in order to establish a relationship and help bridge the gap between law enforcement and the lowrider community,” said CSUSM Sgt. Herman Hernandez, who is co-chairing the event with Celia Martinez, Student Coordinator/Project Specialist in CSUSM’s Office for Training, Research & Education in the Sciences. Both are members of the University’s Latino Association of Faculty & Staff.

Attendees will also have an opportunity to engage and interact with some of CSUSM’s student organizations, faculty, staff and members of our local police departments.
