Classical Academy High School Student Recognized as a “California Hero”

Classical Academy High School senior Andrew Seelhoff was selected as a California Hero by Senator Joel Anderson’s office. After struggling with an incurable vascular disease, Andrew had his leg amputated at 14 years old. His insurance company denied him a choice in choosing a prosthetic, which led to pain and immobility. This inspired Andrew to lobby to lawmakers in DC to ensure that amputees could have choice in choosing a prosthetic that they need. Anderson stated, “California Heroes Month is a magnificent opportunity to recognize the importance of selflessly giving and recognizing those local unsung heroes within each community. These heroes and their good deeds inspire and encourage others to step up to help their neighbors in need.” Andrew has been accepted to Georgia Tech and is awaiting responses from other Universities to determine where he will attend.
