North City construction activity along Barham Drive and Twin Oaks Valley Road to continue through Summer.
Beginning in July 2018 through summer 2019, residents can expect to see construction activity along Barham Drive and Twin Oaks Valley Road—work that will add capacity to important public systems and supports continued progress on the North City East development.
Barham Drive work will involve the reconfiguration of the center median from Campus Way and Twin Oaks Valley Road. Included in the center median work, 11 Italian Stone Pine trees will be removed and replaced by Torrey Pine trees to complement new landscaping in the area while maintaining the character of the existing roadway.
Work to enhance to storm drains, and water and sewer mains along Twin Oaks Valley Road is currently underway. A new intersection will also be added along North City Drive to enhance traffic flow and help keep motorists moving safely and efficiently through the area.
Phase One work along Twin Oaks Valley Road will bring median and parkway improvements including sidewalks, landscaping, and the addition of a new traffic signal. This work will also require changes to the median and includes the removal of existing trees in the median.
Consistent with the landscape plan for the area, trees will be replaced in the median where possible and new trees will be planted in the parkways on both sides of Twin Oaks Valley Road.
Work will take place Monday through Friday from 7 am to 4:30 pm and during overnight hours on occasion.
Although two-way traffic will be maintained, traffic delays are anticipated as motorists slow through work zones. Delays in the schedule may occur due to inclement weather conditions.
