First Friday Art Walk Oceanside will be returning to its classic downtown Oceanside venues on Friday, October 5th from 5:00pm – 9:00pm.
“We are returning to our traditional Art Walk venues in Artist Alley and other nearby downtown locations this month after a very successful Art Walk last month at the Spring Hill Suites by Marriott. We have sold out all space for the October event and will have over 45 artists/vendors plus live music including Ashon Sylvester, The Venture, Steelin Tin band and Aki’s Drum Circle. Also returning are the FireLight Ladies for a flaming baton performance around 7:45pm,” says Susan Brown, president of the Oceanside Friends of the Arts.
Sunshine Brooks Theatre on Coast Highway will be featuring the “Twists and Turns” art installation in their lobby for Art Walk visitors in conjunction with opening night of “Deathtrap”, a comedy thriller by Ira Levine.
The Oceanside Museum of Art (OMA) will be celebrating its “Art Before Dark” Halloween Activities in conjunction with First Friday Art Walk. Attendees can dress up the family for some pre-Halloween fun with free admission to OMA and create monster masks, decorative pumpkins and experiment with ghoulish tattoos.
As part of the Oceanside First Friday Art Walk, the Oceanside Public Library will also host San Diego-based artist/educator Rizzhel Javier at the Civic Center Library from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Rizzhel will be showing work from her current community art focus, “People and Places Project” (www.peopleandplacesproject.com), which focuses on exploration of identity, storytelling and community. She will also be promoting a workshop for Sunday October 7th at the Mission Branch Library..
First Friday Art Walk is a free event and is sponsored by the Oceanside Friends of the Arts.
