The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department is committed to saving lives by keeping drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs off our roadways. The Southern California/San Diego chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Drivers (MADD) is honoring 16 Sheriff’s Deputies for going above and beyond in arresting impaired drivers.
The MADD Law Enforcement Recognition Awards Ceremony will be held on:
Friday, May 17th
10:00 a.m. to noon

Balboa Park Club
2150 Pan American Road West, Balboa Park
Undersheriff Mike Barnett will be in attendance at the ceremony to personally congratulate all of the deputies
being honored.

The following deputies will be honored with MADD’s “Outstanding DUI Officer Award” for arresting impaired drivers in 2018:

• Nathaniel Bier – Santee Station – 35 arrests
• Omri Goren – Santee Station – 34 arrests
• Jesse Barta – Santee Station – 32 arrests
• Jason Malson – Vista Station – 32 arrests
• Christopher Allen – Imperial Beach Substation – 28
arrests
• Sean Gallagher – Vista Station – 28 arrests
• David Sanchez – North Coastal Station – 27 arrests
• Tammy Bennetts – San Marcos Station – 25 arrests
• Marshall Abbott – Poway Station – 13 arrests
• Garrett Spencer – Poway Station – 13 arrests
• Bryce Thompson – Lemon Grove Substation – 13

The Sheriff’s Department arrested a total of 1,183 people for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs in 2018. That’s down from 1,225 arrests in 2017.
