Route 78 Rotary of North County San Diego is sponsoring its 6th Annual Mariachi Festival on Sunday, April 14, 2019 at the California Center for the Arts in Escondido. This annual festival draws Mariachi fans from San Marcos, Escondido, Carlsbad, Vista, Oceanside, San Diego, and as far away as Corona, Los Angeles, Sacramento, Covina, and El Centro.
The fun begins at 12:30 p.m. with the popular Tacos & Tequila Reception at the Sculpture Courtyard of Center for the Arts Museum in Escondido with the smell of sizzling carnitas, and carne asada tacos on open-grills wafting across the grounds of the Center for the Arts.
The Mariachi Concert takes place at 3 p.m. in the beautiful 1500-seat at the beautiful performing arts Concert Hall. Back by popular demand, the Mariachi Festival will again feature world renowned, Grammy nominated, Mariachi Sol de Mexico and an all-female Mariachi Reyna de Los Angeles, also an internationally renowned Mariachi. Proceeds from these annual Mariachi Festivals fund Route 78 Rotary Club’s education and charitable projects in North County. Projects include: College scholarships for Palomar students transferring to 4 year colleges or universities, school supplies, food and clothing for refugees, support for Encuentros, a Latino boys leadership program and for MANA, a young Latina girls education/leadership program, music instruments for a newly created student mariachi program in Vista, and contributions to 1000 Smiles Clinic for Cleft Palate patients in Ensenada, a health clinic in Zimbabwe, as well as Shelter Boxes for international disasters.
Tickets are now on sale at the Box office at the California Center for the Arts or from members of Route 78 Rotary. VIP tickets that include the Tacos & Tequila-tasting Reception and an orchestra seat for the Concert are $100, general admission tickets $50 -$25. (From now until December 23rd, VIP tickets are on Sale for $90.)
