Applications are due by Sept. 2, and there is no cost to apply or participate in the program.
Residents selected for the fall session of the Carlsbad Student Leader Academy will be notified by mail starting 9/7.
The 10-week program will be held once a week for two hours in the evening, Monday, Sept. 17 through Monday, Nov. 19.

Some of the academy graduates shared, “I feel more confident in my abilities to lead and have a voice” and “I realized that I really do want to make a difference in the world.” “The Carlsbad Student Leader Academy challenges high school students to take an in-depth look at who they are and what kind of life they want to lead,” said Debbie Fountain, the City of Carlsbad’s Community & Economic Development Director.

“We provide a collaborative setting where students work with their peers to determine how they can best contribute to building a better Carlsbad community.”
