Sunset Market Hosts Annual Author’s Night Rescheduled for TONIGHT

Meet local authors on January 24, 2019, Sunset Market in downtown Oceanside. Local writers will be on hand to chat and sell their work from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. Showcasing local authors from all different genres of literature, this is a perfect venue to meet and greet authors from our area of the country. Each author will have their work for onsite sale. They look forward to meeting with the public and sharing their literary vision and expanse of work.

Writers confirmed for the event include:

Major George Durgin enlisted as a private rank E-1 and progressed to E-7 before attaining a commission as a Second Lieutenant. During the 1969 TET Offensive, then Captain Durgin was a combat infantry company commander when he and sixty of his men were surrounded by 1,000 North Vietnamese soldiers. Twenty of his men were killed or wounded that one day. That was just one of ten battles the Delta Dogs fought during the TET offensive. His 480 page book, THE DELTA DOGS, is a copy of his daily journal. Real history about what is like to be a combat infantryman in Vietnam. In 1972, Major Durgin retired after more than 20 years of service. He now lives in Oceanside, California.

Leslie Clark retired from Cochise College in Arizona after 41 years of teaching and now lives in Oceanside, CA. She is the author of two collections of poetry, Cardiac Alert and Ward Off the Night. MainStreet Oceanside’s Sunset Market has been a bright spot in downtown Oceanside since August 2007. This weekly gathering is so much more than a Farmers Market.
