SAN MARCOS, Calif. – A full slate is ahead for Cal State San Marcos Athletics as men’s soccer, women’s soccer and volleyball will conclude their home schedules while the men’s and women’s cross country teams go on the road for their final regular-season races. Before all of that, the 2018-19 men’s and women’s basketball teams will be introduced at Cougar Madness on Thursday at 8:30 p.m. in The Sports Center.

Men’s and women’s soccer will host Cal State Dominguez Hills at The Cage on Friday beginning at 12:30 p.m. They’ll conclude their home schedule with Senior Day on Sunday against Cal State L.A. beginning at 11:30 a.m. Volleyball will host Sonoma State at 7 p.m. on Friday before hosting its Senior Night match against Humboldt State on Saturday at 5 p.m. All senior festivities will take place before match time.

Men’s and women’s cross country will make the short drive down to La Jolla for the UCSD Triton Classic on Saturday. The men’s 8K will start at 8 a.m. and will be followed by the women’s 6K at 9 a.m.

PREVIOUS WEEK •The Cougars picked up four points in the CCAA standings this past weekend with a 0-0 tie at Cal Poly Pomona and a 2-1 win at Cal State San Bernardino.
•CSUSM’s win at CSUSB was the Cougars’ first road win of the season and first-ever victory in San Bernardino.
•The Cougars now sit in fifth place in the conference standings with 16 points.

SCOUTING CAL STATE DOMINGUEZ HILLS •The Toros are next-to-last in the conference standings with four points and a CCAA record of 1-6-1 (2-9-2 overall).
•CSUDH has lost five of its last six games with the lone win coming in non-conference action at Fresno Pacific last Thursday.
•The Toros have been outscored 14-7 this season.
•The Cougars are 4-3 in the all-time series against the Toros and have won the last four games.

SENIOR DAY AGAINST CAL STATE L.A. •Seniors Caitlin Gharibeh, Jenna Hernandez, Elizabeth Maass, Jessica Moreno and Amy Wilson will play their final regular-season home game on Sunday.
•Cal State L.A. is one spot behind the Cougars in the CCAA standings with 14 points and a conference record of 4-2-2 (8-3-2 overall).
•In their last five matches, the Golden Eagles have tallied four wins and a tie.
•CSULA has outscored opponents 14-6 this season and has the highest save percentage in the league at .920.
•The Cougars are 2-3 in the all-time series with the Golden Eagles, but CSUSM is 2-0 against CSULA at home.

THE RENNEISEN FILE •Head coach Bobby Renneisen enters his fifth year in charge of the women’s program and 13th overall at CSUSM
•Renneisen’s 2017 squad was the first CSUSM team sport to compete in the CCAA postseason.
•Between 2006-13, Renneisen was an assistant/associate head coach for both the men’s and women’s soccer teams.
•As the women’s head coach, Renneisen is 34-26-20 (.550) for his career with the Cougars.

SENIOR DAY AGAINST NO. 8 CAL STATE L.A. •Seniors Robbie Dirks, Danny Guzman, David Martin, Bryan Morrison, Noah Park, Andrew Stalboerger and Isaac Swenson will play their final regular-season home game at The Cage.
•The Golden Eagles are currently ranked No. 8 in the United Soccer Coaches Division II Top 25 Poll.
•CSULA’s lone loss came against Simon Fraser at home on Sept. 6.
•The Golden Eagles tied 2-2 with Cal State Dominguez Hills in non-conference action this past Saturday.
•CSULA has outscored its opponents 32-6 this season.
•The Cougars are 1-4 in the all-time series against the Golden Eagles, but they are 1-1 when playing CSULA at home.

THE PULVERS FILE •This season marks the 13th season for head coach Ron Pulvers at CSUSM.
•He notched his 100th win as the men’s head coach on Oct. 7, 2016 in a road victory over Cal State Monterey Bay.
•In 22 seasons as a collegiate head men’s soccer coach, Pulvers holds a 235-154-37 (.595) career record. He was 84-42-24 (.640) while in charge of the CSUSM women’s program.
•From 2006-13, Pulvers led both the CSUSM men’s and women’s soccer teams.

PREVIOUS WEEK •The Cougars went the distance and came out on top with a five-set victory at Chico State last Friday night. CSUSM tallied a season-best 11 aces in addition to accumulating 12 blocks in the match.
•CSUSM dropped a close four-set match on Saturday at Stanislaus State with three of the sets determined by two points.

SONOMA STATE UPDATE •The Seawolves are next-to-last in the CCAA North Division standings with a 4-8 CCAA record and an 8-13 overall record.
•Sonoma State are on a four-match losing streak with two of the matches being sweeps.
•The Seawolves dropped a five-set match against Cal State L.A. last Friday before falling in four to Cal State Dominguez Hills the next night.
•CSUSM is 2-2 in the all-time series against Sonoma State, winning the last two contests that included the Seawolves first loss at home in over a year in 2017.

SCOUTING HUMBOLDT STATE •The Lumberjacks are still searching for their first conference win of 2018
•HSU hasn’t won a set since Sept. 4 at Sonoma State, falling in 10 consecutive sweeps.
•The Cougars are 2-2 in the all-time series against the Jacks and is 1-1 when playing at home.
•CSUSM has swept HSU in its last two meetings.

THE LEONARD FILE •Head coach Andrea Leonard enters her eighth season in charge of the Cougar volleyball team, a program she has built from the ground up since arriving on campus in 2010.
•Leonard was CSUSM’s first-ever CCAA Coach of the Year after guiding the Cougars to a third-place finish in the overall standings last season.

PREVIOUS RACE •The men’s and women’s teams finished second out of the three teams competing in their own race, the Cougar Challenge this past Saturday.
•Senior Lisa Flora set the pace for CSUSM for the third time this season, finishing seventh out of 54 runners with a time of 22:55.0 in the women’s 6K.
•Junior Joshua Litwiller was the Cougars’ top finisher in his first race of 2018, crossing the line in fifth out of 49 runner with a time of 25:50.6

UPCOMING RACE •CSUSM cross country teams are competing in the UCSD Triton Classic for the first time in each program’s history.
•The men were ranked No. 8 in the West Region by the USTFCCCA on Oct. 9 while the women were ranked No. 9.
