TNT’s Animal Kingdom Shawn Hatosy’s at 2018 Oceanside International Film Festival

The Oceanside International Film Festival will kick off on Wednesday, August 1 with a very special premiere screening of TNT’s crime drama, Animal Kingdom. The Film Festival invites the public to this special event. The Opening Night episode features the directorial debut of star Shawn Hatosy, known by fans for playing the complicated eldest son “Pope” on the show. After the screening, Hatosy will appear in person for a Q & A session with audience attendees. Joining Hatosy on the Q&A panel will be Animal Kingdom co-executive producer and acclaimed writer Daniele Nathanson. Nathanson has written & produced for, SEAL Team (CBS) & Murder in the First (TNT). Attendees will preview episode 11 (“Jackpot”) of the popular TNT series from Warner Horizon Scripted Television one week before its televised premiere. Animal Kingdom airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on TNT.

Episode 311: Jackpot – Tuesday, Aug. 7, at 9 p.m. (ET/PT) – Smurf (Ellen Barkin) enlists the boys in a surprise job that results in devastating consequences. Meanwhile, Pope (Shawn Hatosy) is forced to confront the truth about Baz’s murder as J (Finn Cole) steps up for the family in an unexpected way.”

Animal Kingdom Season 3:

The infamous Cody family is back as Warner Horizon Scripted Televisions’ hit drama Animal Kingdom returns for a third season on TNT. Emmy® and Tony® winner Ellen Barkin stars as the matriarch of the Cody crime family, along with Shawn Hatosy, Ben Robson, Jake Weary, Finn Cole, Molly Gordon, Carolina Guerra and Emmy® nominee Denis Leary (special guest star on the series). The third season of Animal Kingdom premiered on Tuesday, May 29, at 9/8c. In last season’s shocking cliffhanger, Baz (Speedman) was shot while on his way to Mexico after framing Smurf (Barkin) for murder. Season three opens with Smurf in jail and her grandson J (Cole) in charge of the family business. The Cody men find themselves increasingly divided as they fight for both control and their independence, but have to come together when outside threats emerge. Deran’s (Weary) drifter dad Billy (Leary) comes back to make amends, but may have other motives. Animal Kingdom is produced by John Wells Productions in association with Warner Horizon Scripted Television. Emmy® winner John Wells (ER, Southland, Shameless, The West Wing) serves as executive producer on the series. Animal Kingdom was developed for television by Jonathan Lisco and inspired by the award-winning feature film written & directed by David Michôd and produced by Liz Watts, who also serve as executive producers on the series.

Shawn Hatosy:

One of the most versatile actors of his generation, Shawn Hatosy continues to expand upon his already impressive resume by starring in a succession of buzzworthy projects. In addition to roles in The Cooler with Alec Baldwin, In & Out with Kevin Kline, Michael Mann’s Public Enemies and a darker turn in Nick Cassavetes’ Alpha Dog, Hatosy starred in John Wells’ award-winning TNT drama Southland, for which he garnered a Critics’ Choice Award nomination. Originally from Frederick, Maryland, Hatosy currently resides in Los Angeles.

Daniele Nathanson:

Daniele Nathanson is currently a co-executive producer on TNT’s ANIMAL KINGDOM. Other television credits include: GOLIATH (Amazon), SEAL TEAM (CBS), MURDER IN THE FIRST (TNT) and NURSE JACKIE (Showtime). She holds an MFA in Playwriting from San Francisco State University and her plays have been produced at the Pacific Residence Theatre (LA), Shotgun Players (Berkeley) and others. She originally planned to be a veterinarian.

The Oceanside International Film Festival officially returns this August for five days worth of independent cinema at the Sunshine Brooks Theatre. The event, which is now entering its eighth annual edition, remains North County’s longest running film festival, giving local and regional film fans the chance to see over 50 films from a wide spectrum of countries.
