Men’s Golf Adds Four New Faces to 2019-20 Roster
SAN MARCOS, Calif. – Cal State San Marcos head men’s golf coach Greg Hutton announced the signing of four newcomers for the 2019-20 season. The incoming class features Connor Nelson, Connor O’Hern, Matthew Pennington and Sam Theijs.

“The addition of these four student-athletes will add much needed depth to the team,” said Hutton. “I believe that by adding these four players and with the leadership from our seniors, we can achieve our goal of a CCAA conference championship.”

Troy HS / Long Beach State – Fullerton, Calif.

Achievements •Shot a 69 in the opening round of the Farms Invitational (Feb. 11-12) to finish tied for 25th with a 5-over 225 his sophomore year at LBSU.
•Placed 28th at the UC Santa Barbara Collegiate (April 16-17).
•Four-time All-Freeway League selection.
•Three-time team MVP.
•Four-time Scholar-Athlete.
•Shot the lowest round in 2015 CIF with a 65.
•First men’s golfer from Troy HS to make it to the third round of CIF.

Beckman HS / Orange Coast College – Tustin, Calif.

Achievements •Two-time All-Pacific Coast League.
•Four-time Scholar-Athlete.
•Member of the 2013 CIF Southern Section Championship team.
•Placed second at the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) Senior Showcase in Las Vegas in 2016.

La Costa Canyon High School – Carlsbad, Calif.

Achievements •Led team to a 2019 State Championship, Regional Championship and Avocado West League Championship.
•Member of four CIF Championships
•Selected to the 2018 All-Avocado West second team.
•Named to the All-Academic Team twice (2018, 2019).

Achievements •Tied for fourth place at the National Tour Veterans Day Championship (Nov. 10-11) at Twin Oaks Golf Course in San Marcos, Calif.
•Shot a 146 to finished tied for third at the National Tour San Diego County Classic at The Vinyard at Escondido
