CSUSM Veterans Services to Host Veterans Day Observance on Thursday

San Marcos, CA – California State University San Marcos’ Veterans Services is hosting the University’s annual Veterans Day Observance at noon Thursday at the Veterans Center on campus. The event is free and open to the public.

CSUSM President Karen Haynes will be speaking, along with Command Master Chief German Lira of the USS Rafael Peralta and Assemblywoman Melissa Melendez.

CSUSM computer science student Stephen Walker, who is the vice president of the CSUSM Student Veterans Organization, will serve as master of ceremonies.

The CSUSM Student Veterans Organization will be presented with a certificate of plank ownership from the newly commissioned, San Diego-based USS Rafael Peralta at the Veterans Day Observance.
There will be a reception on the deck of the Veterans Center following the Veterans Day Observance ceremony.

Additionally, at Friday’s men’s basketball season opener, which is dedicated to veterans and the military, seven student veterans will be presented with the Loeber Scholarship Award. Bill and Suzanne Loeber, who married in July, asked their family and friends to donate to a CSUSM veterans scholarship in lieu of wedding gifts.
