Carlsbad CERT Academy training begins Monday, Jan. 28, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. and runs for 10 weeks. Class size is limited. Team members must be Carlsbad residents and 18 years old or older.
All CERT academy candidates must first attend the CERT information session.
The goal of the Carlsbad CERT program is to develop a cadre of trained incident response support volunteers.

More Information

According to City of Carlsbad Emergency Preparedness Manager, David Harrison, CERT volunteers played an important role in the response to the Poinsettia Fire in May 2014 and the Lilac Fire in December 2017, performing a variety of support activities in the city’s Emergency Operations Center and at temporary evacuation points and shelters.

CERT volunteers provide emergency preparedness and response assistance to their neighbors and community. Volunteers receive over 24 hours of free training, including fire safety, disaster medical operations, and light search and rescue.
