You have prepared your home for the threat of wildfire with defensible space and you have packed your emergency items. You’re ready. You’re set. But in an emergency, where are you supposed to go?

The acronym PACE stands for primary, alternative, contingency and emergency. Due to the dynamic nature of disasters, San Marcos residents are encouraged to create their own multi-tiered escape plan following the PACE protocol. It is a wise and necessary component to any emergency preparedness plan.

In 2019, the San Marcos Fire Department will be hosting community meetings to discuss the value of having a PACE plan in place. During these meetings, fire officials will share their knowledge with the community to assist residents in preparing their own list of PACE evacuation routes. Look for more details about these events on the City’s website and social media platforms.

For questions, contact the San Marcos Fire Department at (760) 744-1050. ext. 3410.
