Two weeks after the 9th Annual Taste of Vista festival hit Main Street, 508 Tavern was officially presented with the prestigious “Golden Fork Award”. Voted on by the patrons of the festival, this award is presented each year to the restaurant with the best tasting dish.

The 2017 Golden Fork placard was presented today at the modest home of the 508 Tavern, aptly located at 508 S. South Santa Fe Ave. in Vista.

The winning dish, “Spicy Korean BBQ Tacos”, remains the kitchen’s best-seller. A family recipe, the tacos took festival fans by storm and has taken the innovative restaurant to the top of the local restaurant food chain.

Co-owners Shelly Kentner and Hector Estrada opened the venue on May 5th of this year after working in the food and beverage industry together for many years. Local residents have been flocking to the tavern ever since to enjoy the ever-expanding menu, courtesy of head chef Abel Romero. Featuring 10 plus local brews on tap, there is a beer to pair with each of the 11 delectable dishes.

In attendance to present the award was Jeffrey Frankel, Executive Director of the Vista Village Business Association, Debbie Medrano and Tammy Pollock the Taste of Vista Event Planners. Shelly Kentner was present to accept the award on behalf of the 508 Tavern.

“We’re incredibly grateful and thankful,” she says. “Community recognition means everything.”

Until next year, 508 Tavern is the rightful owner of the 2017 “Golden Fork Award”, bragging rights included.
