SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men’s golf team will participate in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Men’s Golf Championships early this week in Chico. This weekend, the CSUSM baseball team plays a split-venue series against Cal State San Bernardino, while Cougar softball squad wraps up its 2018 campaign at CSUSB. The CSUSM track & field teams will send 12 Cougars to compete in the Steve Scott Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

CAL STATE SAN BERNARDINO •CSUSM is 2-10 all-time against the Coyotes.
•The Cougars won the series opener, 3-1, last season to CSUSB before dropping the final three games of the series.
•CSUSB ranks sixth in the CCAA standings after splitting last weekend’s series at Cal State East Bay.
•In the 2018 CCAA softball preseason poll, the Coyotes were picked to finish fourth.

CSUSM BREAKDOWN •The Cougars played their final nonconference games of the season, hosting Concordia-Irvine last Wednesday. CSUSM narrowly dropped game one 5-3 before being shutout 5-0 in the nightcap.
•Sophomore Karen Roman continues to be solid at the plate, boasting a .345 batting average.
•In the 2018 CCAA softball preseason poll, the Cougars were picked to finish 10th.

CAL STATE SAN BERNARDINO •CSUSM is 4-10 all-time against the Coyotes.
•Last season, the Cougars opened the series with a 7-3 win before falling in the final three (14-7, 8-4, 9-6).
•Jacob Allen is in a three-way tie for third in hit by pitches with nine.
•As a team, the Coyotes rank last in the CCAA in pitching (9.32 ERA) and second to last in hitting (.256 avg.).

CSUSM BREAKDOWN •The Cougars won their second CCAA series of the season after winning 3-for-4 against Cal State L.A. last weekend. CSUSM recorded a 6-4 victory in the series opener at CSULA before falling 5-4 the next day. The Cougars swept the Golden Eagles in the Sunday doubleheader in San Marcos by scores of 9-3 and 6-2.
•Senior Tyler Place went 6-for-12 with a double and a home run while recording five RBIs and three runs.
•As a team, CSUSM ranks fifth in batting (.290) and tenth in pitching (5.88 ERA) in the CCAA.
